Alex Proyas is a director who has certainly made some interesting work in the past including 'The Crow', 'Dark City', and the underrated 'I, Robot' but hasn't had a directorial outing since pile of horse manure called 'Knowing' back in 2009. His return to the director's seat doesn't appear to be any sort of slouch as we now have the first trailer for 'Gods of Egypt' and boy does it look bananas!
Proyas will be working with a script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless who have recently written some ludicrous if not enjoyable movies including 'Dracula Untold' and 'The Last Witch Hunter'. 'GoE' will follow a mortal man who goes on a mission with the god Horus to take back their rightful blah blah something or another, this trailer looks BONKERS!!!
Watch this trailer and tell me that story isn't completely irrelevant... Did you try? You couldn't do it could you? After seeing the super-mega-dopalicious technicolor posters released earlier this week this trailer is about what I expected and this CGI bukkake-fest will probably flop and be outrageous and I'll love it.
Sound off on your thoughts about this outrageous week-filler of a movie below. We'll find out how it is this February when we all have nothing else to do that weekend. It sure will be interesting to see a bunch of white folks including Gerard Butler and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, the latter of which has the whitest name ever, play a bunch of egyptians. You know, because they aren't wonder bread caucasian superheroes, or maybe I know nothing.
