THR is reporting that Michael Cera has signed on to the Lego Batman spinoff as Robin and will join Will Arnett who is returning as the Caped Crusader. As a fan of Mr. Cera I support this casting decision and anxiously await this movie as I was also a fan of Arnett's turn as Batman in The Lego Movie.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller who directed Lego will return as executive producers and will oversee Chris McKay as he directs the Batman spinoff. McKay was the animation supervisor of Lego so he should have a decent grasp of this world and the tone established by Lord and Miller and can put this knowledge to use when directing the script penned by Seth Grahame-Smith.
While no release date or plot has been released for this movie we will report any future news as it rolls in. With the hilarity of The Lego Movie and the comedic talents of Cera and Arnett we should be in for quite a good time when the Bluths (cough!) I mean Batman and Robin get into shenanigans and adventure at some point in 2017. What say the haters about this casting? Feel free to sound off and check back in for developments.
